Over on the rec.games.roguelike.development newsgroup the 7 Day Roguelike challenge has started so I decided to try and make a 7dRL called Escape from Lab 42. I am posting daily updates and screenshots on my blog:

Thanks. I plan on doing some heavy coding tomorrow so I should make some decent progress on this.

I appreciate it! If you don't mind I'll holler at you for a Penguin build when I get it done.

Here is my entry for the 7DRL challenge Escape from Lab 42. You can grab the Win32 exe and FreeBasic sources from my skydrive:

http://cid-bcdbe1b9697ff5dc.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/lab42/lab42.zip

It would have been nice to have some more time to test, but that is what this challenge is all about. I have included a readme in the zip file that gives a quick explanation of the game. You probably don't need it since the game is very simple.

I *think* everything is working, which just means I didn't have time to find all the bugs. Smiley

E.K.: Could do a Penguin build for me? I'll include it in the package. Thanks man.

I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty to compile your game in Linux. Here's the link to the binary (I think it's all you need):

I haven't played the game though, I'll try it tomorrow.

Best Regards,

Morning rdc and PSnake.
PSnake, i get segmentation fault when i run up your binary. Please try my ubuntu binary, i attached. Maybe it works, maybe not.

rdc, when i fire-up your game, i see the game area and after 2 seconds, ill die. At the bottom of screen, some information messages does flash in high speed. Some delay function propably not functional in linux?

Not sure what is going on there. Every thing is standard FB. The two delay macros are in the data include file. Try changing those values, maybe that will help.

I can play the game just fine. I see the first image, then the intro text, and finally it starts the game.

I don't understand why the seg fault. Well I don't have much experience with FB compiler, could you post the command you used?

Psnake, do you have openSuse or some other non-debian based distro there perhaps? I have seen problems in these cases often before.
I compile lab43 in default way; fbc filename.bas

Please try my compilation, attached previous posts earlier.

Hi,

the game begins with the player standing next to a zombie so if (s)he doesn't move immediately the player will die.
